The 11th Hour
So what’s special about the 11th hour? What is
the 11th hour? How is the phrase 11th hour use in the
bible?
The church was birthed at Pentecost, after the resurrection of
Christ. 2000 years have passed since Pentecost, and the church has ventured
into its 11th hour. When we look at history, we see 2000-year cycles
of important events taking place.
·
2000 years after creation was the birth of Abraham.
·
2000 years after Abraham Christ was born.
·
And now 2000 years have gone by since the birth
of Christ.
We are entering into the pinnacle of the next greatest event
the Bible talks about. 'The 2nd
coming of Christ'. The Bible says this event will take place in our generation.
in Matthew 24: 32-36 which we call the backbone of End Time Prophecy reveals what
will take place in a time such as this.
Matthew 24
32 Now learn a
parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth
leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise
ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say
unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
35 Heaven and
earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that
day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Jesus talks about this generation, the word used here is ‘genea’,
and can be translated into ‘age’. We know the sun, moves backward along the
ecliptic very slowly every year, and dawns every 2000 years in a different
house or age. It is interesting Jesus’s terminology points to the current age
since his birth that will not pass away till all this things have taken place. It
is also important to point out that many end time scholars regard this verse as
reference to Israel, the ‘figtree’. Even along this argument 100 years have not
passed since the rebirth of the nation on May 14th 1948.
In Matthew 20 Jesus talks about sending labours into his
vineyard.
Matthew 20 King James Version (KJV)
20 For the kingdom of heaven is
like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to
hire labourers into his vineyard.
2 And when he
had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
3 And he went
out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
4 And said
unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give
you. And they went their way.
5 Again he
went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
6 And about
the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto
them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
7 They say
unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the
vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.
8 So when even
was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers,
and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
9 And when
they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a
penny.
10 But when the
first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they
likewise received every man a penny.
He finds labourers in the 11th hour idling around
all the day and sends them in the 11th hour to the vineyard. Jesus concludes in verse 8 stating that when evening was come the Lord of the vineyard
said unto his Stewart to call (rapture) the labourers and give them their hire
(rewards). This is a kingdom parable where Jesus refers to a natural phenomenon
to explain a spiritual truth or a kingdom principle.
The vineyard is the world. He is the Lord of the vineyard
and the Lord of the harvest. We are the labourers in the field. In verse 6 says
that Jesus goes out looking for labourers in the morning, in the 3rd
hour, in the 6th hour, the 9th hour and then the 11th
hour. At the end of the parable Jesus returns to reward his labourers.
We are the closest generation to the final hour, and the
dawning of this hour will bring forth his return. As workers in the 11th
hour we need to make sure we operate our lives, our families with understanding
of the times. The Lord expects us to be more watchful, more alert for the days
are drawing short. These are also the days satan knows his time is at hand, and
therefore wickedness and unlawfulness upsurge all around us. But as Isaiah 60
states,
Isaiah 60 King James Version (KJV)
60 Arise, shine; for thy light
is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold,
the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise
upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
When darkness covers the earth, we arise and shine for the
glory of the Lord overshadows us. Glancing around at world events is the church
at large aware of the world drawing to its end time climax? More than that is
the church ready for battle in this final hour? Does the church know the will
and the heart of the Father for this hour?
Jesus said, ‘Watch and Pray’. Watch the signs of the times.
·
Increase of nuclear weapons
·
Formation of one world government and religion
·
Cashless societies
·
Rise of satan worship
·
Believers of aliens and extra-terrestrial beings
·
Alienated from the doctrines of the Word of God
·
Rise of witchcraft and magical doctrines in the
church
From the point of view of the church the Lord expects the ‘true
Sons of God’ to arise grounded in their mantle, and shine as the church reaches
its climax.
