The Last Trumpet -The Rapture
The Rapture of the Church is the most beautiful message heard for countless generations. It anticipates the Glorious appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ for his Bride, the 'Church'. The word 'Rapture', many scholars say is absent from the Bible. Why then do many believe and long for this glorious appearing? Paul when discussing the topic of the 'resurrection of the saints', alludes to the phenomenon of what the believer will experience.
1 Corinthians 15:51-55 King James Version (KJV)
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
King James Version (KJV)
He speaks about a certain mystery which will happen in a twinkling of an eye. The body changed from corruptible to incorruptible, mortality to immortality, where victory over 'death' is won.
This verse speaks about the occurrence of a 'Last Trumpet' that will be sounded preceding the above events. It is so important to the body of Christ, that we want to describe what Paul refers to as the 'Last Trumpet', hence we named this blog 'The Last Trumpet'.
The Book of Revelation talks about the 7 trumpets of God's judgment. These must not be mistaken for what is being mentioned here. This trumpet is sounded to the church, where the believers are changed from mortal to immortal. When looking at the Feasts of the Lord, we encounter 7 feasts or divine appointments, that the Lord God of Israel wanted His people to celebrate year after year.
These Feasts are
1) The Passover - Christ the Lamb of God offered as a sinless offering.
2) Unleavened Bread - The breaking of the sinless body of Christ.
3) The First fruits - The Resurrection of Christ as the firstborn of the dead.
4) Pentecost - The entrance of the Holy Spirit to earth to indwell the believer.
5) Trumpets - The Rapture of the saints.
6) Day of Atonement - The final atonement of Israel.
7) Booths - Christ's Millennium reign on earth.
So we see the 'Last Trumpet' is the Feast of the Lord, that will occur next in the timeline of the church. It is not a reference to the judgment of God, but a divine appointment that has been awaiting its final fulfillment. The first feast of Passover took place when Christ died on the cross. The second feast the unleavened bread took place, when his sinless body was broken for the redemption of mankind. The third feast happened when the Lord arose from the grave as the first fruit offering to conquer death. The fourth feast was Pentecost, the arrival of the Divine Fire of God. This is where we are at still, as we await the fulfillment of 'Trumpets' or the 'Last Trumpet', the fifth feast of the Lord.
In the Jewish Calendar Pentecost takes place 50 days after the first fruits. Three Spring feasts and three Fall feasts with Pentecost falling in between, mostly close to the Spring feasts. In between Spring and Fall/Autumn lies about 3-4 month gap, which we call the 'Church Age', or 'Summer Time- The Hot Divine Grace of God.' The Church age ends with the approaching fulfillment of the Autumn feasts, the first of them which is the 'Feast of Trumpets.' This is the blessed awaiting of the church, the period of full favour in between, where the church longs for the sound of the Great Last Trumpet.
